Following the warm reception of his single Sthandwa Senhlitiyo, Eswatini-born DJ and producer Lethumusa continues to build momentum together with the collaboration that explores love in its purest form while setting the tone for his long-awaited debut album.
Born and raised in Eswatini, Lethumusa is steadily carving out his space as one of the country’s promising DJs and producers. With seven years of music production under his belt, his sound continues to evolve and with it, a deeper sense of purpose. Now working on his long-awaited debut album, Lethumusa is entering a defining chapter of his career, marked by intention, collaboration, and heartfelt storytelling.

The idea for “Sthandwa Senhlitiyo” was born during the early stages of crafting his debut project. “I’m currently working on my debut album and that’s where the idea for the song first started,” he explains. “It was first produced weeks before recording as a beat idea for the album.” What began as a simple beat concept soon grew into something far more meaningful.
The title “Sthandwa Senhlitiyo” loosely translated as “beloved of my heart” carries emotional weight, and that depth is reflected in the creative process. Vocalist Nelly Noll recalls how naturally everything came together during their first studio session with Umzi.
“‘Sthandwa Senhlitiyo” is a very special title for me because it truly reflects how the song came together,” she shares. “When Umzi and I first heard the beat, we both immediately knew it was going to be a love-themed song. The writing process was incredibly easy and natural, everything just flowed, especially the chorus ‘sthandwa senhlitiyo.’”
She adds that the beat itself guided the song writing, allowing them to express love effortlessly. “This was actually our first session working together, and the beat really brought out a shared sense of love and creativity between us. The song is genuinely dedicated to love birds out there — it’s about that deep, heartfelt connection that feels natural and sincere.”
Musically, Lethumusa draws heavy inspiration from the vibrant KZN sound. Producers like Dlala Thukzin and Funky QLA are currently shaping his sonic direction, while global house icon Black Coffee has remained his biggest inspiration since the beginning of his journey.
At its core, “Sthandwa Senhlitiyo” is about connection. “The main feeling I wanted listeners to connect with is love in all its forms,” Lethumusa explains. “I wanted everyone who hears it to think about someone special in their lives — their partner, their best friend, even their crush. Because ‘sthandwa senhlitiyo’ isn’t limited to romantic love; it can literally mean anyone who is close to your heart.”

Interestingly, the collaboration that birthed the song happened almost by chance. A previously scheduled session fell through, leading Lethumusa to organize a new one with CeboValz, bringing Nelly Noll along, while CeboValz invited Umzi. “I played the beat and everyone liked it. Umzi and Nelly Noll started writing immediately. After recording, CeboValz spent the rest of the night reworking the beat and structure to what it is today.” The result is a seamless blend of voices and production that feels both intentional and organic.
The response has been overwhelming. Fans have embraced the song warmly, with many singling out the line “mina bengilele nkosi” as a standout emotional moment. The industry has also taken notice, landing the team a live TV interview on Eswatini TV and a radio feature with Supaphly. For Lethumusa, seeing listeners connect to the song in their own personal ways has been deeply affirming.
As the second release off his upcoming debut album, the single marks significant growth. “It means a lot,” he says. “It’s been really great to see how well received the two songs released so far have been.”
At this stage in his career, Lethumusa’s music explores themes of love, heartbreak, healing and spiritual growth. Regardless of tempo or beat, these are the threads that tie his work together and form the bridge between him and his audience.
For first-time listeners discovering his music through “Sthandwa Senhlitiyo,” he hopes they connect with its authenticity. “I hope they can connect with the realness of it all — the lyrics alongside the soulful blend of sounds.”
Looking ahead, fans can expect another single in the coming months, followed by his debut album, fittingly titled Lethumusa. Having spent over a year crafting the project, he is ready to share this deeply personal body of work with the world.
With heartfelt storytelling, meaningful collaborations, and a sound inspired by some of the best in the game, Lethumusa is not just releasing music — he’s building a legacy rooted in love and growth.
