The city of Mbabane is set for a day of music, food, sport, family activities and culture when Mbabane Day returns to Coronation Park on Saturday, October 31.
The 2026 edition was announced by the Municipal Council of Mbabane on Friday, with the programme promising a full day of activities under the theme “Our City. One Community. One Day.” The event is scheduled to begin at 11 am and continue until late, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to spend the day outdoors while experiencing entertainment and activities in the heart of the capital.

According to the promotional poster, this year’s programme will include live entertainment, food and craft stalls, family activities, sports and games, as well as cultural attractions. The combination is designed to appeal to different age groups, with families, friends and visitors able to move between the various offerings throughout the day.
The choice of Coronation Park also places the city’s public spaces at the centre of the celebration. The park has previously hosted community and cultural activities, and the municipality has increasingly positioned its parks and recreational facilities as places where residents can gather beyond the usual routines of work, school and home.
Mbabane Day has also developed from the municipality’s wider programme of community events. In 2023, the council hosted Mbabane Fun Day at the Prince of Wales grounds, with activities including a kiddies corner, sports, a food court, games and entertainment. The event was listed by the municipality as a free community gathering.

The following year, Mbabane Day was held alongside the Mbabane Half Marathon on November 23, 2024. About 1,480 athletes participated in the marathon’s 5km, 10km and 21km races, with the municipality describing the turnout as a 14 per cent increase from the previous edition. The day combined the sporting programme with community entertainment and activities.
The 2025 edition marked another shift in the event’s presentation, with Mbabane Day moving towards a broader festival format at Coronation Park. It was promoted under the theme “Cosmopolitan Living” and featured performances by Nothando Hlophe, Sands, Velemseni, LK Baba, Thubillion, Miss Tee and Cybos, alongside food vendors, fashion and art showcases, family zones, sports and a movie night.
The municipality has previously described Mbabane Day as part of its efforts to strengthen community cohesion, while its annual reporting records the event as attracting residents through a combination of sporting and recreational activities.
The event also gives local vendors and creatives a chance to connect directly with the public, while giving residents a platform to discover products, performances and activities from around the city too.
This year’s event appears to continue that broader approach while placing stronger emphasis on an accessible day out for the community. With food stalls, entertainment, games and cultural activities all included, Mbabane Day offers a calendar date for residents looking to enjoy the capital in a relaxed outdoor setting.
As October draws to a close, Coronation Park will become the meeting point for a celebration centred on the city itself its people, businesses, creatives, families and public spaces. For those planning their month-end weekend, Mbabane Day is set for October 31, from 11 am until late. The municipality’s 2026 events calendar also lists Mbabane Day among its annual events for October.
