DJ Faya to Bring Mozambique’s Sound to ESwatini

Eswatini’s entertainment scene is set for an international music crossover on October 30, when veteran Mozambican DJ and entertainer DJ Faya headlines a Throwback Friday event at 23:28 Lounge in Mbabane, bringing together artists from the two neighbouring countries.

The event, organised by NewLife Entertainment, will feature DJ Faya alongside Mozambican guest Feling Capela and local DJs Ntombs, Karly B, Mixmash, Czar and DJ Cup. Entry will be free, offering music lovers an opportunity to experience a cross-border entertainment showcase without an admission fee.

The event was revealed by NewLife Entertainment Director Thembikhosi Mthethwa, who said the initiative was aimed at creating an opportunity for artists from Mozambique and Eswatini to share a platform while giving revellers an evening centred on nostalgia and music.

According to Mthethwa, the international booking forms part of the entertainment company’s efforts to bring diverse musical experiences to local audiences and strengthen connections between the two countries’ entertainment industries.

DJ Faya Brings More than Two Decades of Experience

Born Fayaz Abdul Hamide, DJ Faya has built a career spanning more than 20 years, establishing himself as a recognised figure in Mozambique’s entertainment industry.

He began his DJ journey in 2000 before turning professional in 2004. His appearance in Eswatini will introduce local audiences to an entertainer whose career has been shaped by years of performing for diverse audiences.

His participation also adds an international dimension to the Throwback Friday concept, which seeks to reconnect audiences with memorable sounds from different musical eras.

The event is expected to attract music enthusiasts drawn to classic hits, familiar rhythms and the atmosphere associated with old-school entertainment, while providing a platform for audiences to experience Mozambique’s music scene.

Local Talent Shares the Spotlight

While DJ Faya headlines the international lineup, the event will also showcase Eswatini’s local entertainment talent through performances by Ntombs, Karly B, Mixmash, Czar and DJ Cup.

The inclusion of local DJs alongside the Mozambican guests reflects the event’s cross-border approach, bringing different musical influences together under one programme.

Beyond its entertainment offering, the showcase highlights the potential for collaboration between artists in neighbouring countries, where shared audiences and cultural connections can create opportunities for greater visibility and professional networking.

For local performers, events of this nature provide an opportunity to engage audiences alongside international guests, while contributing to the continued development of Eswatini’s nightlife and live entertainment sector.

A Celebration of Music and Nostalgia

The Throwback Friday concept is designed to appeal to audiences seeking a return to the sounds that defined different generations, delivered within a contemporary nightlife setting.

With DJ Faya’s extensive experience, Feling Capela’s participation and a supporting lineup of local entertainers, the October 30 event will bring together musical influences from Mozambique and Eswatini at 23:28 Lounge.

For NewLife Entertainment, the showcase represents an opportunity to expand the variety of entertainment available to local audiences while creating a shared platform for talent from both countries.

As the event approaches, the focus will be on delivering an evening that celebrates nostalgia, cross-border cultural exchange and the enduring appeal of music as a meeting point between neighbouring nations.

With free entry and a blend of local and international performers, Throwback Friday is set to offer revellers an opportunity to experience Mozambique and Eswatini on one stage.
