In a world where ambition and style intertwine, few embody the perfect balance of business acumen and creative flair quite like Mbali Nxumalo.
Known as the dynamic founder and creative director behind the online fashion brand Fashiondashcouture and the hair and beauty line HairPlug Shop, Mbali has carved her own path in the competitive world of fashion and entrepreneurship and she’s only just getting started.
For Mbali, business is not just about profit margins and brand visibility; it’s a lifestyle rooted in purpose, empowerment, and authenticity. A self-described serial entrepreneur, she has diversified her ventures across multiple industries, including rental property and private transportation, a testament to her belief that one should “never have all your eggs in one basket.”
Beyond her thriving businesses, Mbali wears many hats literally and figuratively.
She is also a business coach, motivational speaker, and MC, offering guidance and inspiration to aspiring entrepreneurs through one-on-one coaching sessions. Her work in this space has positioned her as a respected voice in Eswatini’s growing entrepreneurial ecosystem. “I have a passion for small business entrepreneurship and strategy,” she says. “Helping others shape their ideas into sustainable ventures is something I find deeply fulfilling.”
From Corporate to Couture
Mbali’s career journey is as bold as the fashion statements she curates. Once a corporate professional working as an accountant and auditor, she made the life-changing decision to leave her 9-to-5 job and pursue her true calling in fashion. “My career path has been nothing like I ever thought it would be,” she reflects. “But it has turned out to be everything I always hoped it would be and this is just the beginning.”
Entrepreneurship, she explains, isn’t something she stumbled upon by chance. It has been part of her DNA since childhood.
“I’ve had the entrepreneurial spirit since I was probably five years old,” she recalls with a smile. “I’ve harnessed that passion and turned it into a lifestyle.”

Leaving a stable corporate career behind came with challenges and uncertainty. Yet, Mbali’s courage to redefine success on her own terms has been one of her greatest triumphs.
“Walking away from what society terms ‘a great career’ to figure it out as a start-up businessperson, growing multiple businesses from the ground up these have been my most challenging and rewarding experiences to date.”
Dressing Confidence
For Mbali, fashion is more than fabric it’s a form of self-expression and empowerment. “I believe a woman should be anything and anyone she wants,” she says passionately. “And clothing plays a huge role in that presentation. I just wanted to be part of the reason women are happy with themselves, and this industry has allowed me that opportunity.”
Her philosophy is simple yet powerful: fashion should make you feel as good as it makes you look. It’s this ethos that defines her brand, Fashiondashcouture; a platform that celebrates individuality, confidence, and self-love.
Mbali’s dedication to quality and authenticity has also shaped her brand identity. “Business has taught me that you need to rely on your skills to offer quality and a standard people can believe in,” she notes. “It’s not just about being a socialite and expecting people to support you. Your work must speak for itself.”
To Mbali, building a lasting brand means finding the balance between trend awareness and individuality. “Stay abreast of trends but bring your own style to it,” she advises aspiring fashion entrepreneurs. “Customers buy into authenticity more than fads. Always strive to improve your product offering. People are inspired by brands that show growth.”
Her best business lesson? Consistency, faith, and gratitude.
“Seeing God constantly giving me the nod on this journey by making a way for me; that’s one of my greatest highlights,” she shares. “The other is the unwavering support I get from my clients. There are no two greater feelings.”
When Passion Becomes Lifestyle
For Mbali, there’s no clear line between her professional and personal life and she wouldn’t have it any other way. “My job is my lifestyle, and my lifestyle is my job,” she says with conviction. “That’s the joy of living a life doing what you love.”
Her days are often filled with designing, styling, mentoring, and managing multiple ventures yet she finds fulfillment in every moment. Entrepreneurship, to her, isn’t about hustle alone; it’s about freedom and purpose.
What’s Trending in Fashion
With her finger on the pulse of style, Mbali keeps a close eye on seasonal trends. “Maxi dresses are always in,” she says.
“They come in chiffon of different textures and bright floral prints.”
She also highlights the bucket hat as a timeless accessory making a big comeback this season.
When it comes to colours, her current favourites include Biscay green, saffron, coral pink, brilliant white, and classic blue hues that radiate freshness, confidence, and sophistication.

Mbali’s Fashion Tips
Her fashion philosophy is refreshingly inclusive and practical. “Know your body type and shape,” she advises, “but don’t be afraid to experiment that’s what makes fashion fun.” For Mbali, confidence is the ultimate accessory. “Always make sure you’re comfortable when leaving the house,” she adds. “It goes a long way in portraying a confident character.”
From corporate boardrooms to fashion studios, Mbali Nxumalo’s journey is one of courage, reinvention, and vision. Through her work, she continues to empower women to embrace their individuality and step boldly into their dreams proving that true style starts from within.
