August 30, 2025, — The South African and Eswatini house music community is in mourning following the tragic death of Caven Masetla, popularly known as Poizen. The 33-year-old DJ and producer passed away in a car accident, according to confirmed reports by Tzaneen Voice, and a number of South African Publications and an official press release from the Southern African Music Rights Organization(SAMRO).

Masetla, originally from Tickyline (Ga Maake) in Tzaneen, Limpopo, first rose to prominence as part of the house duo House Victimz alongside DJ Shiloe. His creative journey continued to flourish as a solo artist deeply embedded in the house music scene.
Circumstances of the Accident
While details remain limited, reports indicate that Masetla succumbed on the spot in a car crash near Mokopane earlier today ( August 30) when he was travelling with friend and industry colleague, Collen ‘Chymamusique’ Mmotla who was badly injured and rushed for urgent care.

Further information regarding the cause, possible contributing factors, or any involved parties has not yet been released. Authorities are expected to provide an official statement once investigations continue.
Final Release and Haunting Lyrics
In a haunting alignment of art and fate, just days before his passing, Poizen released a new EP together with Chymamusique featuring Eswatini’s hottest house export; !Sooks and other South African House maestros.
.One track that has been the talk amongst the mourning house music community includes emotionally charged lyrics:
“Don’t wait ’till I’m gone to tell me you love me, I’m here, now… Kiss me, hug me—now is the time, show me something.”


These words, now unfolding in tragic hindsight, resonate deeply—almost as if Masetla sensed his time was limited, making the song a powerful and bittersweet farewell.
