Standard Bank Luju Food and Lifestyle Festival Calls on Eswatini Designers for 2026 Fashion Programme, Deadline Friday

Aspiring designers across Eswatini are being urged to seize a major opportunity to showcase their creativity on a national stage, as the Standard Bank Luju Food & Lifestyle Festivalopens its call for entries into the 2026 Luju Fashion Designer Programme.

The initiative is searching for bold and innovative creatives to present their collections on the Mastercard Runway at the renowned festival, offering a dynamic platform that fuses fashion, culture, and lifestyle within one of the countryโ€™s most anticipated events.

The Luju Fashion Designer Programme deadline is set for Friday, April 17, with applicants encouraged to submit their entries ahead of the cut-off for one of Eswatiniโ€™s most prestigious fashion development platforms.

More than just a runway showcase, the programme is designed as a developmental incubator aimed at nurturing local fashion entrepreneurs. Selected participants will work closely with industry experts to conceptualise and produce a distinctive collection inspired by this yearโ€™s theme,โ€œKwesukasukela โ€“ Once Upon A Time,โ€ which celebrates storytelling as a living expression of culture.

Designers chosen for the programme will benefit from mentorship in key areas such as collection development, brand identity, and production quality. They will also receive full runway production support, including models, hair, makeup, and styling, along with fabric sponsorship through fashion partners.

Beyond the runway, participants will gain direct access to more than 10,000 festivalgoers through the Luju Fashion Cafรฉ marketplace, providing a valuable opportunity to engage with customers and generate sales. Designers will also be featured in media campaigns and receive professional photography and videography to support their brand growth.

The programme further includes participation in the Luju Fashion Indaba, a platform where creatives connect with industry leaders to discuss sector challenges and explore opportunities for growth and collaboration.

Organisers say the initiative reflects a broader mission to celebrate African heritage, promote sustainable fashion practices, and foster collaboration within the regional creative industry. This year places a strong emphasis on eco-conscious design, encouraging the use of sustainable materials and ethical production methods.

To qualify, applicants must be Eswatini-based designers or fashion brands currently in operation and seeking to expand. They must be able to produce a minimum of six original looks, demonstrate a clear brand story, and commit to the full programme schedule from May to August 2026. Participation in all activities, including in-person sessions at House On Fire, is mandatory.

The festival, scheduled for 1โ€“2 August 2026, will take place under the theme โ€œA Return to the African Future.โ€ It continues to position itself as a leading platform for creative expression and cultural exchange in the region.

Interested designers are encouraged to review the full information pack and submit their applications before the deadline.
