UNRLSD, UNHRD Introduces a Fresh Way to Experience Local Music in Mbabane

A new concept is making its way into Eswatini’s live music scene, offering audiences the rare opportunity to hear songs before they are officially released, hosted on 11 July at Yini Loku. Cover charge is E50 at the door, starting at 5pm- 7.30pm.

The initiative called, UNRLSD, UNHRD (Unreleased, Unheard), moves away from the traditional concert format by creating a space where artists perform music that has never been released on streaming platforms or presented to a live audience. Instead of celebrating familiar hits, the concept places the spotlight on creativity in its earliest form.

As Eswatini’s creative industry continues to grow, concepts such as UNRLSD, UNHRD reflect a willingness to experiment with how local music is shared. They provide emerging artists with an additional platform to showcase original work while giving audiences a reason to seek out live experiences that cannot be replicated online.

The debut edition features performances by Sihlangu Sibiya, Sarnilo, Vuyo, formerly known as NKO On The Beat, Kalulu of Inkanyamba and Grixxly, each sharing original music that has yet to be heard publicly.

The series is in an intimate setting designed to encourage genuine interaction between performers and listeners. Rather than experiencing finished products after months of promotion, audiences become part of an artist’s journey by hearing new material while it is still fresh.

While listening parties and album launches have become common, UNRLSD, UNHRD takes a different approach by making unreleased music the main attraction. The concept creates an environment where artists can test new ideas, gauge audience reactions and build deeper connections with supporters before their music reaches digital platforms.

It also offers a refreshing experience for music lovers. In an era where songs often become popular online before they are performed live, the series reverses that journey, allowing audiences to discover music in person before it becomes widely available.

The intimate format is equally significant. By limiting the audience size, the experience encourages closer engagement between artists and listeners, creating conversations around the music rather than simply presenting a performance.

More than introducing another event, UNRLSD, UNHRD presents a different way of thinking about live music. It celebrates the excitement of first listens, the vulnerability of sharing unfinished stories, and the unique connection that can only happen when artists and audiences experience something new together for the very first time.
