Entertainment in the Kingdom has clearly shifted. It’s no longer only about scale or spectacle, but about intention. Curated audiences, thoughtful spaces and moments that feel personal are now what’s driving the entertainment scene as the new year continues.
As the year routines return, let’s zoom into the sounds and experiences still echoing into the new year.
This is somewhat a checkpoint for what’s shaping how we listen, the reason we gather and how we experience local creativity going forward.
Micro-Entertainment Takes the Lead
Beyond genres, the most noticeable shift has been how entertainment is becoming smaller, curated, experience-led events setting the tone, focusing on quality, connection and intention not necessarily an audience there to gaze and record videos.
While we have a good assortment of the main large-scale and even multiple stage musical events; including MTN Bushfire, Standard Bank Luju Festival, House Music Fest, Farmers Market, and Makoti Festival to name some, here’s a look at some concepts that are beginning to lock in a thriving genuine community. Today we review house music communities.
Unleash The Wolf: House Music in its purest form
More than an event, Unleash The Wolf established itself as an escape space for true house music lovers. UTW is Curated and hosted by acclaimed House purist, !Sooks together with Antidote Music. It reaffirmed that Eswatini’s house audience values depth, patience and purpose, not driven by boredom.

This yearly event has a minimalistic style to it, uncluttered marketing, intimate venues, almost like it doesn’t put too much effort in selling it, because the audience is very exclusive and when you attend it once, you won’t need convincing to go again. The authenticity of the space guarantees that you will be back. One of extremely few events with no MCs on stage, no sections – everyone is treated like a VIP, no groupie energy, a crowd so immersed in the sound they rarely have their phones out too long. One other strong point is the handful of excellent selectors local and international, curated to tail a connecting sound story from beginning to end, not just trying to fill a poster with names. You have to be there.
Beats & Barrelz by DJ Ndumz: Where Music Meets the Palate
This repeat sold out experience is an intimate wine tasting and guided pairings sit down, fused cleverly with live DJ performances. Beats & Barrelz, which is founded and hosted by Afro House DJ and passionate Wine lover, Ndumz Dj, has redefined a few expectations of what wine tasting should be, while not leaving out her love for music. It speaks to an audience interested in balance, and open minded, ready to try out innovative delights where music enhances the experience rather than overwhelming it.

Usual attendees have also taken to loudly praising the calm, thoughtful and exceptionally inclusive environment that the host has created since the inception of the event. From complementary femme products in the rest rooms, refresher products to keep everyone comfortable, individual name branded tags on arrival to the extremely thought out seating layout, proving this isn’t another by the way event, more-so a passion project. The daytime event flows from table to dancefloor all within 1pm to 6pm, always leaving the crowd yearning for more. Kudos to Emaswati for supporting such spaces. Capacity has gradually increased, who knows this might become a mini wine festival- be on the lookout for the next edition.
But First, Coffee!: A Coffee Rave Culture on the Rise?
The coffee and live performance combo took shape for the better part of last year as this monthly breakfast till afternoon concept was birthed. Hosted at an equally brilliant Bahle Gallery garden space, it has welcomed well known international guests and matured personalities who fancied a warm cup of vibes as early as 11am in the capital city of Eswatini with classic RnB and soul then flowing smoothly into classic old school house music jamming in the background.

Daytime social experiences have truly entered the spotlight through concepts like But First, Coffee. With its laid back, nostalgic sounds, conversation and community, it confirms a growing desire for softer, more mindful ways to connect, proving that meaningful moments don’t always happen after dark. Groove is about company and a safe space to be.
Deep House Conversations
2026 is welcoming the return of Deep House Conversations, another intimate experience that gathers house lovers, typically for exploring underground house music and as the name says, to converse. The Editions were last held in 2024 and took an extended hiatus but never lost its audience too. 2 years later it brings back a new venue, it was typically a backyard, outdoor or underground parking event, now exploring a high end environment, cozy enough to hold the calibre of supporters.

The point is usually to encourage conversations around mutual music, not just a dj and crowd set up but a chance for a like minded community of consumers and creators to shape up an exclusive culture, one that makes everyone one big family. The day out is usually paired with good food, great live sets, social games, live soccer screening and networking.
The Bigger Picture
As 2026 it’s clear that Eswatini’s entertainment scene is evolving. Audiences are more intentional, experiences more curated, and music now exists within a broader lifestyle conversation, touching on wellness, culture, taste and timing over just trends. This goes beyond just house music culture. We shall explore other creative communities also on a come up.
We’re already pressing replay.
