Eswatini is set to host its inaugural Eswatini Christian Authors Bookfest on October 17, bringing together authors, publishers, bookshops, ministries and other stakeholders in Christian literature as the country seeks to strengthen the visibility of African Christian voices.
The Bookfest, organised by Mind Food and Soul Organisation (MFSO) in partnership with the African Christian Authors Book Award (ACABA) and Christian Literature Communications Kenya (CLC Kenya), will take place at Bethel Court in Ezulwini from 12:30pm to 4pm.
The event is expected to provide a platform for the local Christian publishing and literary sector, with exhibitors showcasing titles covering Christian living, leadership, devotionals, family, business, education and inspirational literature. It will also create opportunities for authors and industry players to network, collaborate and explore partnerships across the continent.

According to the organisers, CLC Kenya will use the event to present publishing and partnership opportunities available to authors in Africa and beyond. Participating authors may also become eligible for nomination for the 2027 African Christian Authors Book Award, potentially increasing their exposure to international partnerships and translation opportunities.

The initiative follows the recognition of Eswatini author Stanley Mkhwanazi at the 2025 ACABA awards, where his book Redefine Your Worth: How to Overcome Hopeless Thoughts and Enjoy God’s Unfailing Love won the Christian Living category and was named runner-up for Book of the Year.
Mkhwanazi’s achievement subsequently contributed to a partnership between himself, MFSO and CLC Kenya, which resulted in the establishment of a writing class before developing into the country’s first Christian Authors Bookfest.

Mkhwanazi said the award created an opportunity not only for his own work but also for other writers in Eswatini, describing the development of the writing programme and Bookfest as evidence of what can happen when African Christian authors are given a platform.
MFSO founder Nelton Mondlane said the initiative goes beyond being a literary gathering, describing it as a movement aimed at elevating African Christian literature and connecting authors with readers across the continent and internationally.
Exhibition stalls are available for E300, while public attendance is priced at E150. The organisers are inviting publishers, bookstores, ministries, organisations, sponsors and Christian literature partners to participate.
