Milk and Hunny: A Nail Appointment You Won’t Want to End

Kulture visited Milk and Hunny, a beauty bar on Dzeliwe Street, a cosy space where thoughtful service, comfort and good company come together. At Milk and Hunny, a nail appointment is about more than just beautiful nails.

The first thing you notice about Milk and Hunny is how put-together it feels. The décor, colours and furniture blend seamlessly without feeling overdone. It’s warm, homely, and inviting;  the kind of place where you find yourself wanting to linger a little longer.

The chairs are incredibly comfortable, which makes all the difference during a nail appointment. Add the lovely scent, spotless surroundings and soft background music, and you have a space designed to help you unwind.

Even the small gestures stand out. Before your session begins, you are offered a bottle of water, a simple touch that sets the tone for the care that follows.

Founder Tezulu Dlamini says this was intentional.

“Milk and Hunny is a very beautiful space. It was carefully and intentionally curated for relaxation, where we want clients to experience a land of milk and honey, of rest, of overflow, beauty, essence and all of that.”

The Nails Are in Good Hands

A beautiful setting means little without good service, and this is where Milk and Hunny truly shines.

The staff are friendly, humble and attentive, making you feel at ease from the moment you walk in. During our session, we noticed the care taken at every stage. The nail technician worked with precision, paying attention to detail while checking in to ensure we were happy with how the nails were coming along.

Rather than feeling rushed, we had room to share our preferences and watch them come to life. It was reassuring to be part of the process, rather than just waiting for the final reveal. That consideration made the experience enjoyable and gave us confidence in the final result. It’s the kind of service that makes you appreciate the person behind the work, not just the finished set.

The Company Makes It Even Better

There is also a lovely social side to Milk and Hunny. Conversations happen naturally between clients and staff, and the atmosphere feels friendly without ever feeling forced. You can join in, share a laugh, or simply enjoy a quiet moment.

Corina, who has been going to Tezulu since her earlier salon days, has followed her journey into this new space and has no plans of stopping.

“My experience is always wonderful. And I will never stop coming,”

She appreciates the cosy surroundings and cheerful staff, but the people she meets during her appointments are just as important.

“One thing I love about here is every person that I’ve ever sat here with, the conversation’s always good. There also is the balance of quiet when there needs to be quiet, and conversation when there needs to be conversation.”

It’s a small thing, but it says a lot about the atmosphere the business has created.

More Than Just Nails

Tezulu started doing nails in 2017 under Hunny Who Did Your Nails. She later launched Simply Love, a business specialising in corporate gifts, hampers and party packs. Milk and Hunny now brings these ventures together under one roof.

For now, the beauty bar focuses on nails, with basic overlays starting at E280 and tips from E350. Prices vary depending on length, design and products used.

The space also offers shelves for rent, allowing other businesses to display their products to Milk and Hunny’s walk-in clientele. Tezulu hopes to expand the beauty offering in future to include services such as lashes and pedicures.

Clients can walk in or book appointments, and the business also offers house calls after hours, at an extra cost. More information is available on the Milk and Hunny and Hunny Who Did Your Nails Instagram pages.

The Kulture Verdict

Milk and Hunny is one of those places where the experience stays with you long after your appointment. We loved the beautiful interiors, the comfortable setting and, most importantly, the care that went into our nails. The staff made us feel welcome, and the friendly atmosphere made it easy to settle in and enjoy every moment.

From the little touches to the attention to detail, it is clear that thought has gone into creating a space where clients can feel comfortable and enjoy being pampered.

Would we go back? Without a doubt. We came for our nails, but left appreciating everything that made the visit special. At Milk and Hunny, even a simple nail appointment can turn into an experience you wish lasted a little longer.
