There is something appealing about an entertainment experience that does not ask audiences to choose between a good musical performance and a good laugh.
That is the idea behind Comedy & Jazz In The Wild, a new event preparing to make its debut in Eswatini on November28.
Introduced by Talent Faktory Entertainment and Stush in the Bush during a media launch at Happy Valley Hotel in Ezulwini, the event is built around a simple but interesting combination: live jazz, comedy and an outdoor setting.

Its first edition will be hosted at Stush in the Bush in Kalanga, Ngcina, bringing together musicians and comedians for a gathering that organisers hope will offer audiences something different from the usual entertainment programme.
The musical offering includes some recognisable names in Eswatini’s entertainment industry. Bholoja, Nomalungelo Dladla, Itallo and Zwile Bhembe are among the artists announced, alongside Judah, Temandla, SMP Evolution, Ntunja and Xixel Langa. The comedy line-up features Darren, Shaun the Talking Monkey and Magongo the Comedian.
There is also a regional element to the programme, with the organisers looking to bring together talent from Eswatini, South Africa, Mozambique and Botswana.
The combination creates an opportunity for audiences to experience different performers within one programme, while giving local artists a platform alongside regional acts.

What makes the concept interesting is the decision to place comedy and jazz in the same entertainment space. Jazz has its own rhythm and audience, often drawing people who appreciate live musicianship, vocal expression and the atmosphere that comes with a good performance.
Comedy, on the other hand, relies on storytelling, timing and the ability to connect with an audience through humour.
Bringing the two together gives the event a more varied identity. It is not exclusively a music gathering, nor is it a comedy show.
Instead, it seeks to create an experience where audiences can enjoy both without having to attend separate events.
The setting is another part of the proposition. Stush in the Bush, situated in Kalanga, provides the backdrop for an outdoor entertainment experience, allowing the event to move beyond the conventional concert venue.
The natural surroundings add to the appeal of the concept, particularly for audiences who enjoy combining entertainment with time spent in a different environment.

For the hosts and curators, Gogo Eswatini and Slwane, the inaugural edition is an opportunity to introduce this concept to the public.
They have expressed confidence in the event and encouraged audiences to attend, sharing the assurance that preparations are geared towards delivering an eventful experience.
Their manager, Philani Mpanza, also used the media launch to appeal for public support, encouraging people to turn out in numbers. He expressed confidence in the programme and promised an eventful gathering.
The organisers have further indicated that the announced performers are not necessarily the last names audiences will hear about.
More artists are expected to be unveiled as the event draws closer, leaving room for further additions to an already diverse programme.
For the local entertainment industry, the inclusion of artists from different backgrounds and genres creates an opportunity for collaboration and audience crossover.
A jazz enthusiast may discover a comedian they have never watched before, while someone arriving primarily for the comedy may leave with a renewed appreciation for live music.
That is perhaps where the event’s appeal lies: in offering different reasons for people to come together.
As the year moves towards its festive period, audiences are increasingly presented with entertainment options that compete for their time and attention.
Events that offer a distinctive experience have an opportunity to stand out, particularly when they bring together a strong programme, an appealing setting and performers with established followings.
Comedy & Jazz In The Wild will make its debut on Saturday, 28 November 2026. For those looking to spend time outdoors while enjoying live music and comedy, Kalanga will be the meeting point.

Whether audiences arrive for the jazz, the comedians or simply the opportunity to experience something different, the organisers are hoping that the first edition will give them a reason to return.
The next few weeks will reveal further details of the programme as additional performers are announced. For now, the invitation is to make room for a little jazz, a little laughter and an outdoor entertainment experience.
