Eswatini’s First Bubbly Run Blends Wellness and Wine

A new lifestyle experience is set to combine running, wine, food and music when The Wine Boutique and Simonsig host The Bubbly Run on November 21, 2026.

The event will take participants on a 5km walk or run from The Wine Boutique to Mantenga Nature Reserve Waterfall and back, before moving into an afternoon programme centred around wine, food and entertainment.

The event is being presented as the first of its kind in Eswatini, bringing together an organised wellness activity with a wine experience.

The concept follows a growing interest in social running and lifestyle events that extend beyond the traditional race format. Similar wine-and-running experiences have gained visibility on social media, particularly through lifestyle content from Cape Town, where running clubs and wine experiences have increasingly become part of the social calendar.

For The Wine Boutique, the Eswatini event will bring that combination into a local setting, using the route towards Mantenga Waterfall as part of the day’s experience.

Instead of  ending when participants cross the finish point, the programme will continue with wine, food and music before the Wine Soirée.

The 5km route will begin at The Wine Boutique and head towards Mantenga Nature Reserve Waterfall before participants return to the starting point.

The organisers have described the route as an opportunity for guests to incorporate outdoor activity into a full-day lifestyle programme.

The event is scheduled to begin at 6am and continue until 6pm, giving participants and guests several hours to move between the outdoor activity and the social programme. Tickets are priced at E400 per adult, with limited spaces available.

Lungile Dube-Motsa of The Wine Boutique when speaking during interviews with media houses said the concept was developed around bringing several lifestyle elements together in one event.

“We wanted to create something different, an experience that brings together wellness, adventure, wine, music and good food. The Bubbly Run is designed to give people an opportunity to enjoy the outdoors, connect with others and celebrate life in a completely different way, Dube-Motsa said.

The day will also place an emphasis on the social side of the experience. Following the walk or run, guests will be able to take part in wine tasting and enjoy food while music is provided by Mixmash and DJ Tap. The Wine Soirée will then form part of the afternoon programme.

Simonsig, which is partnering with The Wine Boutique for the event, will be central to the wine component of the day. The brand’s bubbly will be incorporated into the post-run experience, with guests expected to move from the outdoor activity into the tasting and social elements of the programme.

The combination of running and wine is a departure from the conventional format of both activities. Running events generally focus on fitness, distance and competition, while wine experiences tend to centre on tasting, food and socialising. The Bubbly Run is structured around bringing the two together within a single event.

The format also reflects the way lifestyle events have increasingly become spaces where wellness and social experiences overlap. Running clubs, walking groups and wellness communities have become increasingly visible on social media, with some events adding food, music and other social activities to their programmes.

Meanehile in Cape Town, similar concepts have attracted attention online, particularly among younger audiences who have turned organised runs into social occasions.

The Eswatini event takes a similar broad approach, but places its own focus on the country’s landscape, hospitality and local entertainment.

The route towards Mantenga Waterfall is expected to provide the outdoor setting for the first part of the programme, before guests return to The Wine Boutique for the post-run activities.

The dress code will also form part of the event’s lifestyle element. Guests have been encouraged to wear their “chic fit” in Simonsig MCC colours, adding a fashion component to the day’s activities.

The organisers are positioning the event as one where participants can move from an active morning into a more relaxed afternoon without leaving the wider programme.

The Wine Boutique has also confirmed that guests will have access to food, wine and music during the post-run celebration.

The involvement of Mixmash and DJ Tap will provide the entertainment for the social programme, with the Wine Soirée rounding off the day’s activities.

For guests who are interested in attending, the organisers have indicated that spaces will be limited. Tickets are currently priced at E400 per adult, while further ticketing information is expected to be made available as the event approaches.

The Bubbly Run will take place at a time when Eswatini’s lifestyle and wellness calendar continues to expand, with events increasingly combining outdoor activities with food, entertainment and social experiences.

Its November date also places it within a period when outdoor events can take advantage of the country’s warmer weather and natural surroundings.

For The Wine Boutique and Simonsig, the November event will provide an opportunity to test a format that is still relatively new to the local market. The organisers have described it as a first for Eswatini, with the 5km route, wine experience, food, music and Wine Soirée forming one continuous programme.

The Bubbly Run is scheduled for November 21 at The Wine Boutique, with the 5km route extending to Mantenga Nature Reserve Waterfall and back. Participants will be able to choose between walking and running the route before joining the remainder of the day’s programme.

With running shoes, wine, music, food and a dress code all forming part of the schedule, the event is set to introduce a different format to Eswatini’s lifestyle calendar while drawing from a concept that has already found an audience in other markets.
