Prime Minister Showers Velemseni With Warm Praise For Her Captivating Performance

Velemseni, a renowned female guitarist and vocalist from the Kingdom of Eswatini, delivered a breathtaking performance at the Temvelo Awards and Dinner held on Friday, November 28, 2025.

Known for her unique sound rooted in jazz, rock, and neo-soul elements, Velemseni has long been celebrated for her rich musical artistry. Her roots are firmly planted in Eswatini, where she began her career performing as a backup artist for the iconic Bholoja. She proudly represented the kingdom on a continental stage when she performed at the prestigious Standard Bank Joy of Jazz in September 2025.

On Friday night, her musical brilliance shone once again.

Serving as the main act of the evening, Velemseni captivated the distinguished guests with an emotive and polished set that drew admiration from across the room. Her performance also caught the attention of Prime Minister Russell Mmemo Dlamini, who offered warm praise for her talent and stage presence.

The Prime Minister described her artistry as both mature and inspiring, noting that she continues to grow into one of Eswatini’s most promising musical exports. Before proceeding with his keynote address, he expressed his desire to see her perform again at future national events to further showcase her exceptional talent.

In a humorous and light-hearted moment, the Prime Minister added that he hoped to compose a song for her one day.

“I will not do the singing or the choreography; my role will be to write the lyrics. I am confident that with a song authored by me, Velemseni will achieve even greater recognition and shine on the international stage,” he said.

The event, hosted by the Eswatini Environmental Authority, unfolded smoothly and delivered on its mandate of honouring individuals and institutions demonstrating excellence in environmental sustainability. Speeches from invited guests were insightful and well-articulated, marking yet another successful edition of the Temvelo Awards.
